Every career story has a soundtrack.

I arrived on the last Monday in August - which makes total sense for this Virgo/Projector 5/1. (By the way, I’ve loved phones since day one.) I come from a line of brilliant women who were kept small. I arrived to smash the cycle.

Writing and being creative has always been part of my heartbeat. (Left-handers unite!) Even at this age I knew a desk with fresh tools gave opportunities to create something fun and good.

All things systems and administration captured my heart after being able to help the Assistant Principal as an Office Aide. I learned how I love color coded files, organization, and anticipating what someone needs before they ask.

Soon after the cap got thrown in the air, I landed some “temp to perm” work with a TPA company for life insurance and annuities. After years of learning almost every area of the business, I was placed in the role of “Point of Contact” for NJ insurance agents in the million dollar commission bracket. After five years in, and while on maternity leave, layoffs were announced due to the entire block of business moving overseas.

After doing some volunteer work at a “mega church” (#IYKYK), I found myself in the role of Administrative Assistant. I supported leadership with communications, systems, and volunteer management of over 400 volunteers.

For five years I created intentional connection online in various spaces. First, I launched an online community for over 200 women on a dinosaur of a Dell™ desktop. Then I found myself helping build a non-profit’s online community from 10k to 30k. This is what I affectionately call the “gold years” of social media and where I was able to take online connections offline in Nashville and LA.

What started as a temporary, part-time gig to help my friend, became a five year career pivot. I went from organizing medical records to the role of hiring and exiting of over 500 healthcare clinicians and sales representatives in the Hospice industry.

Soon after the confetti from New Year’s settled, I landed an opportunity to help build a new Home Health agency. It was part of a hospital-at-home model of healthcare that included Hospice and Palliative Care services.

After 11 months into the pandemic, my role as Office Manager was eliminated due to a declining patient census. I had experienced a layoff once before, yet this one hit my heart even harder. I thought I was finished with helping in healthcare because of my extreme burnout. But never say never.

After discovering a start-up whose healthcare values aligned with my own, I decided to get back into it. I had zero connections to help with getting hired - which was a first for me. I decided to go all in on being seen by using the power of my personality and unique career story. Within a pool of 1000+ applicants, I made the cut. Which healed some feisty self-doubt on being able to find a new job on my own while in my 40’s.

After a colorful career spanning two decades (and counting), I support women who want a career that lights them up. It’s time for women to be liberated from the work that keeps them exhausted and burned out. Here’s to joy lit in life - and business.
